I recorded this song in Indonesia on a small island ( Gili Air). We recorded Lombok kids near the ocean, we were singing the chorus part. It was hard to teach them to sing in English, but they did a great job.
The next day I wrote down the verse in the bathroom of my hotel room and wanted to ask the children to sing something more, but they did not come to the beach.
When I returned to Bali, I wrote to my Indonesian friend Kehard if he could sing a chorus on this song, and the very next day he sent me a recording of his voice.
In this song, you can hear a lot of sounds that were in the field recordings. You can hear the Indian Ocean waves, tropical birds of Bali jungle forest, the ambiance of the beautiful island of Gili Air, where there are no cars, motorbikes, and people travel on horses and bicycles
This record is literally collected from different moments of my trip, each person who participated in it brought something of their own. I tried to share the atmosphere of these places with the listener.
I only had a digital recorder, a laptop, a pair of headphones, and gitarlele. That's why I love lo-fi, you don’t need a lot of equipment to make music, you can just make music and share it. So simple...
